SPECIAL CRIME INVESTIGATION
Continuation of Part 1
As we go along the lesson, we were able to see more or less the potentials of criminal investigators and scientific criminal investigators. It is through this that once you delve into this kind of career you need to keep yourself abreast with the common characteristics needed for investigators, then later fortified it with some specialized talent to fit yourself into this kind of work.
Having all those characteristics and soon-to-be potentials, let us talk about CRIME SCENE MANAGEMENT. How do we manage crime scenes appropriately and scientifically? This is what our investigators need to know. Practically, this cannot be followed at all times, you see those things and even follow it in the newspaper, television news, and even social media that there were LAPSES and ERRORS. But in doing so, they need to minimize lapses, and error must be recognized.
I am again presenting the second and the third series of a video presentation regarding crime scene management. Be able to recognize special points because, in your examination and assessment, they will be included.
What are our takeaways from the above video?
Accordingly, the action taken by the first officer to arrive at the scene of a crime after its detection and reporting are collectively termed as a preliminary investigation. REMEMBER THIS, this is NOT the same as the PRELIMINARY INVESTIGATION of the Rules of Court, Rule 112, Section 1 which is considered as a prosecutorial duty.
Such action can be deemed also as preliminary action that is normally done by a member of the patrol division or nearest police precinct from where the call was made. Video number 1 tells us about CRIME SCENE MANAGEMENT, especially upon arrival at the scene of the crime, they are:
- Initial Response/Receipt of Information
- The Safety Procedures
- The Emergency Care
- Secure and Control of Persons at the Scene
Be able to remember the “principles and procedures” how those things are employed by the first responder or officer who arrives at the scene of an incident or crime. The next video (below) is the continuation from numbers 5-8 of the said “Management”. Watch it!
