HUMANITARIAN ASSISTANCE AND SOCIAL SERVICES
I WANT TO WELCOME EVERYONE TO THIS COURSE!
This course is intended for executive officers and is designed for convenience, and surely, you will like it!
The humanitarian system has been facing substantial challenges in the past decade. Demand for aid has long outpaced the resources available, yet humanitarian work continues to expand beyond emergencies to longer, more complex crises. Is the humanitarian system fit for purpose? How is the humanitarian system performing?
The humanitarian field is always evolving. Whether you are a seasoned humanitarian worker with years of experience or brand new to the field, your contribution to a response may depend on your knowledge of the current state of humanitarian action and the history of humanitarian response. Humanitarian actors on the ground need to make difficult decisions, often under time and resource constraints; knowledge of the principles that are the foundation of humanitarian work can be invaluable in meeting these challenges. This lesson will give us at least a way of understanding further what humanitarian assistance and social services are.
