This course deals with the study of the different mechanisms in dealing with and resolving conflicts or disputes. It includes the body of knowledge on intervention through reconciliation, arbitration, negotiation, mediation, and litigation between individuals, stakeholders, and agencies tasked to carry out the endeavor. This course also includes the concepts of crisis management and the proper procedure in handling the incident. Moreover, the study significantly provides mechanisms on how to adopt strategies in dealing with potential and actual crises which are being addressed by concerned agencies and the stakeholders.
Subject matters under the course are as follows:
- Understanding the Principles and Philosophy of Reconciliation, Arbitration, Negotiation, Mediation, and the Court Annexed Mediation; and judicial Mediation; and Litigation as Mode of Dispute Resolution.
- Differentiate Restorative Justice from Retributive Justice. (Methods, Techniques, and Strategies of Reconciliation, Arbitration, Negotiation, and Mediation.
- Interpret R.A. 9285 “Alternative Dispute Resolution Act of 2004” and other applicable policies and issuances of the Court or Agency concern.
- Discuss and administer Police Critical Incident Management
- Identify and demonstrate the Types, Characteristics, Phases, and methods of handling Critical Incident Management;
- Determine and evaluate the various types of Crises, Disaster Management and Assessment.
